Police have arrested two males in relation to the fatal shooting of a Tongan man in Auckland last week.

A 24-year-old and a 30-year-old were both charged this morning with the murder of 'Epalahame Tu'uheava and attempted murder of a woman who suffered gunshot wounds.

Both victims were found lying on Greenwood Road in Māngere at around 6am on Tuesday 1 May.

The suspects are scheduled to appear at the Manukau District Court later today.

Detective Inspector Tofilau Faa Va'aelua says their investigation into the case will continue.

"This was a violent incident that shocked the community and we hope the arrests today will provide some reassurance to the surviving victim, the families affected as well as the wider public."

The woman in the attack remains in hospital and is still recovering from her injuries.

A third man has been arrested in the Māngere homicide investigation.

The 25-year-old man from Māngere has been charged alongside the two men arrested earlier, with the murder of 'Epalahame Tu'uheava and the attempted murder of his wife.

"Even after this third arrest for the murder and arrested murder, our investigation team will continue to identify and prosecute anyone else who played a part in this," says Detective Inspector Tofilau.
