Auckland swimmer Noah Vilisoni-Heather has been selected to represent the Cook Islands next month at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.
The 16-year-old Marcellin College student has been swimming in New Zealand's competitive circuit since he was nine and is currently training up to 16 hours a week.
"I try to make six to eight sessions per week," he says.
Heather will be competing in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly rounds.
His mother Glenda Vilisoni says she's extremely proud.
"He's perservered and it's a big achievement."
She says his next goal is to compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
