The announcement was made at a health strategy meeting today in the lead up to the Cook Islands Annual Health Conference held in Rarotonga and Aitutaki later this week.

Toki-Brown fills the position vacated by Nandi Glassie, who lost his seat in the general election to Toki-Brown's daughter, Tehani Brown.

Last week, Toki-Brown joined the Cook Islands Party's caretaker government alongside independent MP Robert Tapaitau and One Cook Islands Party MP George Maggie.

Toki-Brown claimed the seat in the Teenui-Mapumai constituency on Atiu in last month's general election.
