Cook Islanders in Auckland are thrilled to see the return of the Miss Cook Islands New Zealand pageant following a 20 year hiatus.
All 10 contestants were officially introduced at the launch of Cook Islands Language Week in Auckland earlier this year.

Pageant organisers say the event creates new pathways on the international stage for young Cook Island women in Aotearoa.
Former Miss Cook Islands New Zealand Theresa Turua says they're open to offers from the two pageants in the Cook Islands, that have sent their winners to the Miss World and Asia Pacific pageants.
"After this pageant, we'll definitely be in talks with the two camps in Rarotonga," she says. "We're definitely open to any suggestions for our girl, creating a pathway for her from here to the Cook Islands and to venture out from there."
Miss Cook Islands NZ will be crowned tomorrow night in Manukau.
