The Cook Islands Prime Minister Henry Puna has called on Japan and parties to the Paris Agreement to put more work and resources into fast tracking climate change resilience for Pacific nations.

He's commended Japan's support for a regional Climate Change Centre and development of a Pacific Resilience Fund, but says more needs to be done.
His comments came as the triennial Japan and Pacific Leaders summit, called PALM, ended in Japan over the weekend.
The Cook Islands Prime Minister also met with Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for direct talks in the wings of the PALM summit.
