The Mitchell Award, administered by the Australia National University in Canberra, recognises recipients of Australian Aid support who've made an outstanding contribution to international development.
Crisis centre co-ordinator Shamima Ali welcomes recognition of their results.
"It felt wonderful and we feel the years of support that Australia has given us and the work that we've done around the Pacific, it's a wonderful feeling and also you know what it means for us in the future."
