The official sacking of senior Tongan journalist Nanise Fifita has added fuel to the ongoing feud between Tonga Broadcasting Commission and Government.
Local media reported that Prime Minister 'Akilisi Pōhiva pushed for changes to the state broadcaster, claiming they did not support Government.
Fifita's contract as general manager was terminated but she continued as Acting General Manager.
Tongan journalist Kalafi Moala has confirmed Fifita's official dismissal.
"In all that has taken place in this dismissal, there's been no reason given."
He says the relationship between TBC and Government is at it's lowest.
Moala says there are claims that 'Ahongalu Fusimalohi, chair of the TBC board, will replace Fifita's role.
