More than $1 million (NZD) worth of methamphetamine was seized at Tonga's international airport this week.
A 59-year-old man was arrested at Fua'amotu International Aiport on Tuesday for possession of 1.9 kilograms of the drug.
Tonga Police says it's clear the suspect intended to smuggle the drug to New Zealand, as it was confiscated from the man inside the departure transit area.

The suspect also had cash in different currencies with an approximate value of $6000.
Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea says they're sending a clear message that they're working closely with other agencies to disrupt the supply of illicit drugs.
"We can never emphasize enough that meth, like any other illicit drugs, is causing significant harm in our communities."
"We continue to encourage anyone who has information that will assist us in catching those responsible, to contact us."
