Staff, current students and alumni of the University of the South Pacific Campus on Niue are celebrating the university's 50th anniversary based on the theme 'Moment to Shine' since it was established in 1968.
As a member of USP, Niue's Former Premier Hon. Sani Lakatani was appointed as Chancellor from 2000 to 2003.
Since the establishment of the university, it has produced some of Niue's prominent professionals who continue to serve the island nation.
Newly-appointed director of USP Niue campus Seone Lolesio says the week long celebrations will include discussions around USP's strategic plan for 2019 to 2024 where Niue stakeholders are encouraged to participate.
"An open day will attempt to encourage students at the local high school and the community to come and explore the programes that are on offer. We also want to showcase our modules and courses offered online."
"My main aim is to increase enrollment and in 2019 we will offer two new programs Master of Business Administration and Certificate of Statistician all taught on campus," says Lolesio.
Lolesio says Niue USP will continue to play a crucial role in maintaining and providing education services.
Vagahau Niue has now being approved to be offered as a certificate and diploma next year.
Lolesio says the aim is to point USP in the right direction to continue to educate the people and preserve the culture and language of Niue.
