Niue's former environment officer Tagaloa Cooper has taken on the Pacific's top climate change job, joining the executive of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) heading its Climate Change work.

Cooper, whose grandfather Sir Robert Rex was a founder of the Pacific Islands Forum, has been with the group for six years.
She says island communities benefit most when regional experts keep each other in the loop.
"Climate change is everybody's business so everybody's got a role," she says. "We're not going to be able to answer all of the problems, we're not going to be able to meet all of the needs of all of our countries but I do think the key is in building relationships with all of the organisations."
"Less of the competition and more of the collaborating," says Cooper.
