The Australia National Rugby League (NRL) are investigating an alleged racist comment made by one of its officials during the Mate Ma'a Tonga match with the Kangaroos on Saturday night.
Tongan DJ Alfred 'Algoodie' 'Aholelei was amongst the support crew for the event, working to keep the crowd pumped with music tracks.
He says during the half-time dance camera challenge following camera shots of Tongan fans, a staffer in the production booth jeered "dance, monkey, dance" at the screen.
The man later tried to apologise after he was called out by Mr 'Aholelei, who went on to share the incident and his shock at what had happened on Facebook.
The post has gone viral amongst the global Tongan community and Mr 'Aholelei has been interviewed by NRL investigators.
PMN has contacted the NRL for comment.
