New Zealand First candidate Anne Degia Pala is calling for more police and a revamp of laws, to combat the high incidence of youth crime in West Auckland.

The Fiji-born businesswoman says visibility is critical to keeping law and order and ensuring local neighbourhoods are safe.

"We're looking for 1800 front-line police working with communities and keeping crime down," she says.

"Young thugs are not being charged and it's too expensive to keep them in prisons so we want a total revamp of the justice system."

Anne Degia Pala is contesting the Kelston seat for New Zealand First.
