The Green Party has released its list ahead of this year's general election, with two candidates of Pacific background ranked in the top 20 for the first time.
Teanau Tuiono who is of Maori and Pasifika descent, is ranked at 19 on the party list, standing in the Manurewa electorate.
Leilani Tamu, ranked at 20 and standing in the New Lynn electorate, has connections to Tonga and Samoa.
She says it's great to see Pacific peoples rising through the ranks.
"We're both very excited about the opportunity," she says. "It's about being in a position where we can really provide that Pasifika perspective."
The Greens currently has its highest number of sitting MPs in party history, with 14 members in Parliament.
Tamu says she looks forward to working together with her party.
"We're working together as a team for a shared vision and at the end of the day, whatever the number is on that piece of paper, it's actually about what we're trying to achieve for our people."
