Creating and increasing awareness around breast and cervical-screening for Pasifika women is the key objective for a community-based women's health event called Pinikilicious.

Founder of Pinikilicious Caroline Mareko, was inspired to start the program when her mother passed away from cancer.

Mareko says Pacific women need to be more selfish about their health.

“Our women don’t put themselves first," she says. "They more or less look after their families and do everything else but get themselves regularly checked by their doctors.”

Pinikilicious will be held in Cannons Creek, Porirua in Wellington next Saturday.
