A former Island Breeze dancer has opened his first solo exhibition in Tauranga titled "A Noble Savage."
Iata Peautolu incorporates both his Maori and Niuean cultures in his art works.
He says his exhibition is an expression of his journey as a Polynesian and the idea has been brewing in his heart for many years.
"Being proud of who I am as a Polynesian growing up in this urban landscape," he says. "Trying to revitalise these arm forms through symbols and imagery.
Peautolu's exhibition at the Incubator in Tauranga is being showcased to celebrate Matariki, the Maori New Year.
The exhibition will run till June 15.
