Award-winning Samoan journalist and news reader, Niva Retimanu, has won Best Newsreader for the fifth time, at this year's 2017 New Zealand Radio Awards.

The winners were announced last week at a special ceremony in Auckland.
Retimanu has 30 years of experience as a journalist and radio newsreader.
The 48-year-old Samoan hails from the deep south in Invercargill.
She started her radio career in her home town and has also worked at radio stations in Samoa, Oamaru, Timaru, Tauranga and Wellington before being based in Auckland for the last 20 years.
