A social media campaign is pushing for Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to help champion the establishment of a Pacific Super Rugby franchise.
The campaign Future of Super Rugby is being lead by an Auckland-based business consultant, Simon Anderson, who's hoping to start a dialogue between the Samoan celebrity and SANZAAR.
Anderson says it's far too obvious that the Pacific needs its own rugby franchise and getting The Rock on board is the way to go about it.
"At the end of the day the Pacific islands play some of the most entertaining rugby on the planet and if they were given a fair go they would be some of the most competitive teams on the planet."
"I identified that actually, it doesn't always have to be that way. How can we find a way to level the playing field? And that's when Dwayne Johnson the most famous Pacific icon came to mind."
