A documentary of former Kiribati President Anote Tong's attempts to save his country from climate change, is gaining rave reviews in the United States after its world premiere at the Sundance International Film Festival.

Anote's Ark produced by Montreal photographer and film-maker Matthieu Rytz was given the royal treatment before a full-house at Sundance's Egyptian Theatre in Utah.

Kiribati environmental scientist John Corcoran hopes Anote's Ark will convince cynics about the realities of climate change.

"It's fortunate that Anote Tong has the capacity to get this done," he says. "The science of climate change is quite clear and no one can dispute that."

Anote Tong lunched with Sundance founder and Hollywood actor Robert Redford in Utah before taking part in an environmental-themed panel hosted by Redford.
