A South Auckland primary school principal says Pacific teachers have a lot to contribute to their counterparts in the islands.

Rowandale Primary School Principal Karl Vasau, has just returned from Niue, where he took six of his teachers for a week's attachment at Niue Primary School.

He says the trip to the islands and a corresponding trip by the Niuean school to New Zealand, was invaluable.

"They collaborated on planning and assessment for the children," he says. "My staff provided PLD (Professional Learning and Development) on relationship-based learning, reading and writing programme and also a numeracy evening for parents," says Vasau.
