Mate Ma'a Tonga beat the Kiwis in their pool match during the campaign, making history as the first tier two nation to beat a tier one nation.
It was also their first time making the semi-finals in the tournament, playing England in front of a record-breaking sell-out crowd of over 30,000 people in Auckland.
Tonga's King Tupou VI will present the team with an award of the Royal orders tomorrow at the Royal Palace for their sporting achievements.
