Vanuatu's Deputy Prime Minister Bob Loughman, also Acting Prime Minister, has sacked two leading Cabinet Ministers by letter.

No reason was given in termination letters received by Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Matai Seremiah and Minister for Infrastructure Jotham Napat.

Both Ministers are members of the Leaders Party of Vanuatu (LPV) which has enjoyed rising popularity in Tanna, where both Napat and the Acting Prime Minister have their home electorates.

Confirming the news of his termination to PMN, Seremaiah says the reasons for the sacking may become clearer with the return of the Prime Minister Charlot Salwai.

Local media in Vanuatu have reported the Prime Minister sees the sacked ministers as the top performers in his coalition cabinet of 13 ministers.

The Prime Minister and Deputy are the only Vanua'aku Pati Ministers in a coalition which up until yesterday, was split amongst seven parties.

The Prime Minister is expected back in Port Vila this afternoon.
