Three women have been appointed to top jobs in the Cook Islands Public Service.
Commissioner Russell Thomas appointed Danielle Tungane Cochrane as the new Head of Ministry and Secretary of Education, Dr. Aumea Herman as the Head of Ministry and Secretary of Health and Anne Herman as the Head of Ministry and Secretary for Internal Affairs in an announcement last week.

The Cook Islands Prime Minister Henry Puna says the appointment of these women should encourage other Cook Islands women that they too have an opportunity to serve their people at the highest level.
"It has been our government’s pledge and commitment to employ qualified Cook Islanders whenever this opportunity has afforded itself."
"That we have had three Cook Islanders appointed in these Head of Ministry positions builds our country for the future and sends a clear message to the career pathways afforded them here."
